It’s the film that established Haim and Feldman as The Two
Coreys, spawned a series of increasingly dodgy direct-to-DVD sequels,
and made vampires cool long before the arrival of the likes of Buffy The
Vampire Slayer, True Blood and the Twilight franchise.
Thirty years to the day that it first hit cinemas on the other side
of the Atlantic (July 31), here’s a look at 13 things you may not know
about the classic 80s horror comedy that is The Lost Boys.
Inspired by the forever young story of Peter Pan, The Lost Boys
featured in the original screenplay were written as ‘Goonie-type 5th to
6th grade kid vampires.’
But director Joel Schumacher hated the idea and only agreed to make the film if the characters were changed into teenagers.

However, Schumacher only got the chance to come on board when the
film’s executive producer decided to pass on taking the director’s
chair.
Richard Donner was originally supposed to reunite with The Goonies
star Corey Feldman before opting to helm the first Lethal Weapon movie
instead.
